The Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) has modernized its public transportation network considerably in the past few years, including adding new rail lines, upgrading existing ones, and introducing more modern, faster rolling stock. Arrivals from eastern European countries and points in northern Greece terminate in Athens's Larissa Station, a standard-gauge facility. If you are travelling via Attika's Superfast Ferries or Hellenic Mediterranean Lines ferries to the port of Patras, the Peloponnese Station (narrow gauge) will be your arrival point. The two stations lie parallel to each other, with a connecting, overhead footbridge. The OSE accepts a variety of multicounty rail passes, including the variety of Eurail passes. © 2009, The Globe Pequot Press, LaVerne Ferguson-Kosinski Information by Europe by Eurail
